Introductory Rant
Jun. 9th, 2005 09:52 pmOne thing you'll find, reading this journal, is that I'm big on humor. I can not countenance anyone who cannot laugh, especially at themselves. I'm especially big on inappropriate humor, or at least what many people consider inappropriate humor. I'm personally of the opinion that there are just some things so horrible that you can laugh and get on with life, or cry and let it suck the life right out of you.
W is one of these things.
Gave myself away early there, didn't I?
While I identify most strongly with the Progressive movement in politics, I belong to no party. The Democrats and Republicans have been busily disgusting me pretty much equally lately. And many of my views are contra-indicated by one party or the other, making me pretty difficult to place on the spectrum.
For example: I'm a bisexual, Wiccan Feminist who is pro-choice. This screams liberal Democrat, yes?
However, I'm also inordinately fond of my guns and firmly believe in the validity of the death penalty.
I'm pro-Porn, sex-positive and all about free-speech. Even for people I don't like, because let's face it, the easiest way to know who you should be watching out for, is to let them tell you.
I'm also vehemently opposed to politically correct-speak. You know, creating more divisiveness by making people afraid to say anything?
And as a side note, I worship Molly Ivins. She is brilliant. Ever since one of the rednecks my dad worked with gave him a copy of "Molly Ivins can't say that, can she?" as a thinly veiled and wholly unsuccessful insult to my dad's politics, I have devoured her every printed word.
So read. Read and let me know what you think. I'll be trying to footnote my facts and sources where applicable, but if I don't, please, call me on it, and I'll do what I can to dig that source up for you, if you want.
I like debate. I like it a lot. But as I said on the bio-page, if your concept of debate runs more towards just calling me a godless, baby-killing, pinko, commie, intellectual elitist, I will delete you. I get enough of that shit from my extended family.

sirriamnis, please note that I'm going to try to keep the swearing to a minimum. Hard to believe, but yes, I, Queen PottyMouth, will be trying to tone down the language. I'm not saying there won't be lapses, or the occasional rant that'll make Marine drill sergeants blush, but for the most part, I'm going to be making an effort here.
