The common sentiment that I hear is that rape is an issue of power, not an issue of sex. More specifically, it's not at all about the sex, just the power. And that I don't get.
To paraphrase Penn & Teller, rapists are not really horny men (I'm thinking of the old shitty propaganda about how marijuana would make black men so honry they'd run around raping all of the white women). They are criminal assholes that commit a horrible crime. But that still makes me wonder, isn't there some degree of arousal/sex involved? Even if it's more 'I gotta bust my nut, sucks to be you".
I'm not saying that this is an excuse, btw. I just think about this from time to time. Do you have an opinion?
